Henriata is a multi media artist who has exhibited nationally and internationally. She is passionate about creating contemporary work incorporating modern and found materials, based firmly in the context of traditional Mäori design and application.
Henriata’s art practice is based in the traditional Mäori art forms such as whakairo (carving), raranga (weaving), whatu korowai (woven cloak), and tukutuku (thatched weaving). In recent years, she has participated in tamoko (tattoo) as a kai awhina (student).
Henriata also spends her time and energy working with various networks in the creative sector and working with other artists to expand economic and social opportunities. She has produced several exhibitions and events where artists were showcased to the tourism and travel sectors.
