With a background in textile and furniture design and running his own business, Rene has a practical approach to producing mixed media paintings and reliefs.
After finishing a one year visual arts diploma, Rene concentrated on developing his style of abstract expressionist painting. Exploring form space and colour he has an intuitive approach with lots of layering to create depth and a sense of tension.
Rene describes the process of painting as an internal struggle that finishes in a harmonious coming together of what was there all along.
Currently Rene also works as a tutor for Corban Estate Arts Centre. As a tutor he brings with him a great passion for sharing his artistic abilities.
He says "Art can be a vehicle for a harmonious release of emotions that might have been stored and as such it can be very empowering and healing at the same time."
