Alexis Neal is a tutor at our 2013 Summer School and feedback from her 2012 course was that she provided a “gold star experience”. Joining Alexis is well known weaving tutor Ann Uerata and print maker Ruby Oakley - all tutors who offer a solid presentation of skills combined with depth of knowledge.

|WRITING AN ARTIST'S STATEMENT | ALL LEVELS
Sat 22 Feb, 2pm – 4pm
An artist's statement enables viewers to learn more about the artist - what inspires them, why they made this work, what they learnt in the process. For funding applications, it explains the artist's practice and its relevance. An effective statement reaches out and welcomes people to the art. In this workshop we will work together to help each other as we write our artist's statement. Please bring an image or sample of your work and be prepared to share.
LARGE REDUCTION WOOD CUTS | BEGINNERS TO INTERMEDIATE
Sat 22 & Sun 23 Feb, 10am – 4pm
In this workshop we will cover traditional reduction print techniques; creating a multi-colour woodblock print by carving one woodblock for each colour. Working on a larger scale to enable finer detail (A3) you will use a large etching press to print your work, producing a small edition.

LIFE DRAWING AND PAINTING | ALL LEVELS

This course offers extended opportunities to draw the human figure over 2 days. Whether you are building on your previous life drawing experience or developing a new set of skills, Allie will work in-depth with you to develop your work and knowledge in both wet and dry media. You will work from both the clothed and unclothed figure.

BEYOND THE DECISIVE MOMENT – PINHOLE PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP | ALL LEVELS

Immerse yourself in the surreal world of pinhole photography in this practical hands-on workshop, as you make your own pinhole camera from recycled materials and explore the possibilities of this unique medium. Experiment with developing your negatives in the darkroom and learning a wide range of techniques as you create your own original photographic prints.

CREATION DESTRUCTION CREATION | ALL LEVELS
Sat 8 & Sun 9 Mar, 10am – 4pm
Bring some shock and awe to your current painting practice. This completely unique approach teaches you how to use paint and charcoal to capture the essence of your vision. Students of any level will discover the art of deconstruction; from observational drawing to the abstract and back again, venturing somewhere they haven't been before. The class includes discussion on historical precedents in abstraction and a visit to Brendan's studio to see his working process.
