Adults Weekend Workshops

Join us for an inspiring weekend with a group of very talented, enthusiastic artists. Alexis Neal is a tutor at our 2013 Summer School and feedback from her 2012 course was that she provided a “gold star experience”. Joining Alexis is well known weaving tutor Ann Uerata and print maker Ruby Oakley - all tutors who offer a solid presentation of skills combined with depth of knowledge.

These engaging workshops are designed to appeal a broad range of interests and abilities. They will enable you to explore your creativity and discover new ways of working. Artist biographies can be viewed on our website: www.ceac.org.nz

TEXTILES FOR INTERIORS | ALL LEVELS
Katie Smith
Sat 24 & Sun 25 May, 10am – 4pm

Come and enjoy a creative fun workshop in fabric print design. This is an intensive hands-on course covering all aspects of basic screen-printing techniques. Warm up on plenty of calico, and be inspired by some notable artists and designers before creating and printing your own designs onto a linen/cotton base cloth.
FEE: $140 (Includes some materials)




CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT FOR picture BOOKS | ALL LEVELS
Sandra Morris and Nina Rycroft
Sat 24 & Sun 25 May, 10am – 4pm

Learn techniques to create and develop your very own storybook characters. Join this successful illustration team and discuss what makes a successful picture book, character mapping and bringing your characters to life with facial expression and body language. Create a 3D model and learn drawing techniques that will have your characters running and jumping right off the page! Please have a story or character ready to work with.
FEE: $135 (Includes some materials)




TOP LEGENDS | ALL LEVELS (17 YRS +)
Grant Cole
Sat 21 & Sun 22 June, 10am – 4pm

Tell the world about someone you admire through an original piece of T-shirt art, learning techniques used by poster, comic and graphic artists, and then create a short comic sequence that places your character into a story. Family members, a community or political figure, or maybe even a character of your own creation. Please supply your own new or clean white T-shirt for the art to be transferred to.
FEE: $155 (Includes most materials)




TWO PERFECT DAYS | ALL LEVELS
Brendan McGorry
Sat 7 & Sun 8 June, 10am – 4pm

Are you trying to break through your current painting practice to something fresh and new? This two day workshop takes students of any level on a journey, revealing how to add magic to the simple and create the grand. Using the history of art and Brendan's working process as a reference point, this innovative approach guarantees results. The class includes a visit to Brendan's Studio to see the working process in the flesh.
