Magic of Making Muka Fibre | All Levels

Ann Uerata

Sat 21 & Sun 22 February, 10am – 4pm

Learn the magic of stripping flax leaves to reveal the muka fibre inside. You will gain the skills to do this using traditional methods and practices (tikanga). This introductory course will give you the opportunity to prepare muka fibre to whatu (weave) a small wall hanging.

Henna Body Art | Beginners

Sat 28 February, 10am – 4pm

Explore the magical world of Henna in this hands on workshop. Learn to draw traditional patterns and mandalas and then apply them to your skin. You will leave with some lovely temporary tattoos - perfect for summer!

Abstract Painting | All Levels

Anita Levering

Sat 28 February & Sun 1 March, 10am – 4pm

Learn the fundamentals of abstract painting with acrylics. This workshop is experimental in approach and is all about paint, colour and technique, through abstraction and expression. You are encouraged to try new things and make colourful expressive works using different tools and mediums, informed by contemporary art practices from the 1950s to the present day.


The Art of Destruction | All Levels

Brendan McGorry

Sat 7 & Sun 8 March, 10am – 4pm

This workshop takes you through the deconstruction process from observational drawing to the abstract and back again to somewhere you haven’t been before. Brendan will use his own work and historical precedents to explain the delicate art of composition and narrative, and how it applies to any style. You will take home a resolved work. The workshop includes a visit to Brendan’s studio to see his working process.

Printing Without a Press | Beginners & Intermediate

Ruby Oakley

Sat 14 March, 10am – 4pm

This workshop offers you a chance to learn two print making processes that can be reproduced at home without the use of a press. We will cover mono-printing using a gelatine plate and woodblock relief printing. You will produce multiple prints, exploring texture, colour and layering in a fun and stimulating environment, with demonstrations and inspirational examples provided.

Wunderkammmer, Cabinet of Curiosities | All Levels

Sue Clark

Sat 21 & Sun 22 March, 10am – 4pm

Design and create your own mixed media Wunderkammer—a cabinet of curiosities—by repurposing a wooden tray as the cabinet. Reflecting memories, a collection, or parts of the self on a miniature scale, participants will then create 3D ornamental curiosities from clay, plaster, fabric, copper wire and other found materials to fill the cabinet.

FEE: $140






Our café, Coffee Studio – (opposite the gallery) will be open on Saturdays to provide flavoursome, healthy lunches and delicious organic coffee. COFFEE STUDIO
