Join us for an inspiring weekend with a group of very talented, enthusiastic artists. Alexis Neal is a tutor at our 2013 Summer School and feedback from her 2012 course was that she provided a “gold star experience”. Joining Alexis is well known weaving tutor Ann Uerata, print maker Ruby Oakley, successful publisher and photographer Ted Scott and two well-known painters/printmakers Rosina Kamphuis and Anita Levering – all tutors who offer a solid presentation of skills combined with depth of knowledge.

MONO PRINTING ON FABRIC | BEGINNERS TO INTERMEDIATE Ruby Oakley Sat 8 Jun, 10am – 4pm In this workshop we will be using the gelatine plate mono printing process, a versatile process easy to reproduce at home. We will print onto fabric to make a one of a kind a cushion cover. Some very basic sewing skills are required. Please bring your own sewing machine or hand-sew option. FEE: $55 (Includes all materials)
RARANGA WHAKAIRO | ALL LEVELS Alexis Neal Sat 29 & Sun 30 Jun, 10am – 4pm This two-day workshop will teach you how to weave Raranga Whakairo Whariki (Maori plaiting pattern mats) from simple weaves to difficult designs. You will produce at least one if not two Whariki works (size approx. 30x150cm) which could be hung vertically like panels in a Wharenui. We will discuss traditional forms of weaving through to contemporary ideas of fine art. Using a variety of heavy cards you will create very striking individual Whariki through different pattern weaves. FEE: $110 (Includes all materials)
FRUITY WATERCOLORS | ALL LEVELS Anita Levering Sat 29 & Sun 30 Jun, 10am – 4pm You will learn how to use watercolours to paint from still life. We start with simple objects such as apples and pears, gradually moving to more complex arrangements with other fruits and veggies. Have fun and gain new skills in this relaxing medium by making fresh and fruitful compositions. FEE: $105 (Includes some materials)
