TERM 4 CHILDREN’S ART CLASSESWe provide a range of high quality, low cost classes for students from ages 5 –14 years that will support and stimulate their creative skills while recognising their individuality. From portraiture to printmaking there is something for everyone! Classes are taught by skilled, experienced local tutors who are either practicing artists or art educators. All term four classes are six sessions long and the course fee includes materials.

IT’S NOT MY FAULT; THE PUPPETS DID IT (8 – 12 YRS) • TUTOR: EILIS GALUSZEWSKI • Tuesdays: 26 October – 30 November: 3.45 – 5.15pm (6 weeks) • Fee: $50 Come and discover the magical, creative world of puppets with Eilis – our inspirational artist!. Students will study different puppets, from the very simple to the more detailed. Each week puppets will be created from various mixed media. We will discuss performance techniques and create a simple puppet theatre together. You must have oodles of imagination for this class.
PAINTING YOUR SELF-PORTRAIT (7 – 12 YRS) • TUTOR: LEILA ATAYA • Wednesdays: 27 October – 1 December: 3.45 – 5.15pm (6 weeks) • Fee: $50 In this class you will work with pencils, pastels, and watercolour, creating a final work in acrylics. You will learn how to structure, form and shade the human face and body and create a beautiful self-portrait.
DANCING CLOWNS AND LEAPING TIGERS (6 – 12 YRS) • TUTOR: KAIRAVA GULLATZ • Thursdays: 28 October – 2 December: 3.45 – 5.15pm (6 weeks) • Fee: $50 Be inspired by the happenings at the Circus! This clay class will give you the opportunity to shape a variety of imaginative sculptures, for instance a seal balancing a bunny on its nose. Enjoy the process of shaping the soft material by hand! Two pottery wheels will be available to practise throwing pots.
PACIFICA PLACEMATS (5 – 14 YRS) • TUTOR: JOY TIUMALU • Saturdays: 30 October – 4 December: 10 – 11.30am (6 weeks) • Fee: $50 Students will be inspired by looking at traditional and contemporary symbols from the Pacific. Using this source of inspiration, students will create their own symbols using a selection of paints, inks, shellac and varnish, to create a vibrant, funky set of placemats and coasters out of MDF board. These will make a great Xmas present! |
