COLLAGE PAINTING ON CANVAS BLOCKS (8-14 yrs) TUTOR: CLAIRE HEY Mon 19th – Tues 20th January Fee: $90 Feel how much fun it is to explore your own ideas, incorporating pop culture, graffiti art, music, sport, fashion or whatever you are interested in, with colour, texture, collage, print and painting techniques to create a cool artwork unique to you.
TWO BEST FRIENDS (5-10 yrs) TUTOR: KAIRAVA GULLATZ Mon 19th - Tues 20th January Fee: $95 Choose two characters from a story, like Frodo and Sam, Wallace and Gromit or two best friends from your own life, and shape these characters from soft clay. You will learn how to make clay figures and animals and then decorate them with colourful slips.
IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF PICASSO (8-12 yrs) TUTOR: MARY FERGUSON Wed 21st – Thurs 22nd January Fee: $90 Learn about Picasso, a 20th century genius at drawing, painting and sculpting objects. With Picasso’s playfulness as their inspiration, students will draw, paint and make bulls, doves, goats and fish, using pencils, paint, collage and found materials.
TRIBAL MASK AND SHIELD (8-12 yrs) TUTOR: KRISTIN KELL Thurs 22nd –Fri 23rd January Fee: $90 Bring out the wild child! Children will use a variety of mixed media to create a primitive art style of shield and mask which will aim to reflect what each child imagines to be their tribal wild side.
DESIGN YOUR OWN COMIC T-SHIRT (8-14 yrs) TUTOR: GRANT COLE Thurs 22nd – Fri 23rd January Fee: $95 (Students need to bring their own t-shirt and a reference of a favourite comic character) Based on favourite comic figures, students will invent their own unique character. This could be any kind of character imaginable; a science fiction, gothic horror or medieval fantasy figure, a classic superhero or arch-villain, or perhaps styled on existing mutant, manga, transformer or robotic characters. Once the character has been drawn, students will bring it to life in a short comic sequence using primary colours, bold lettering and expressive action drawing, which will then be transferred onto a t-shirt.
FAMILY TIES (5-8 yrs) TUTOR: MANDY PATMORE Tues 27th - Wed 28th January Fee: $90 Join us as we create a wonderful family portrait! Children will look to family members for inspiration as they develop a bright and colourful painting, learning about facial structure, composition and use of colour.
HOOTY THE BLOW FISH (6-12 yrs) TUTOR: KRISTIN KELL Wed 28th – Thurs 29th January Fee: $90 Using a surprise! object as a base, children will paint a spectacular imaginary 3D fish of dynamic proportions which will be a vibrant sculpture for their bedroom or the garden.
WEARABLE ART DOLLS (6-12 yrs) TUTOR: TRILBY FOUNTAIN Thurs 29th – Fri 30th January Fee: $90 Draw then paint your design for a 40cm doll. You will have fun making your doll from hessian, wire and felt; decorating it with an assortment of wearable art materials and personal treasures from home.
AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS (6-12 yrs) TUTOR: KAIRAVA GULLATZ Thurs 29th – Fri 30th January Fee: $95 Travel around the world in your imagination, and make a clay sculpture of a famous building or landscape. You might mould a Scottish castle, gondolas from Venice, or Tane Mahuta! You will learn various pottery techniques, including using a pottery wheel.
