Children's Term Courses

TERM 2 CHILDREN’S ART CLASSES

High quality, low cost classes for students from ages 5 –14 years that support and stimulate their creative skills while recognising their individuality. Classes are taught by skilled, experienced local tutors who are either practicing artists or art educators. All term three classes are six sessions long and the course fee includes materials.

“ON MY WAY HOME FROM SCHOOL…” (8 – 14 YRS)
TUTOR: LOUISE DOVE
Tuesdays: 8 May – 12 June | 3.45pm – 5.15pm
Fee: $55 (6 weeks)

“…I saw a monkey on a motorcycle and an alien land in the front yard!” Your creative stories provide the inspiration for this fun mixed-media book-art project. Construct your own book and use paint, printmaking, drawing and collage to create a fantastic visual story that is out of this world!

CHAMPION’S CUP (5 – 9 YRS)
TUTOR: KAIRAVA GULLATZ
Thursdays: 10 May – 14 June | 4pm – 5.30pm
Fee: $55 (6 weeks)

Be inspired by a champion’s winning cup or the queen’s golden chalice and shape your own, fully functional goblet from clay! Taking a fun and informative approach, children will be guided through the processes of hand building clay. Applications and colourful slips are used to decorate their creations. Two pottery wheels are available to throw pots.

INTERESTING ANIMALS IN THEIR NATURAL ENVIRONMENTS (5 – 12 YRS)
TUTOR: DEBBIE SMITH
Saturdays: 12 May – 23 June | 10am – 11.30am

Fee: $55 (6 weeks excluding 2 June, Queen’s Birthday)
Long noses, big toes and pointy ears may be some of the features of your favourite animal. Using a range of objects we’ll create a structure to make our papier-mâché animals. After sculpting our animals, we will make a scenic collaged background using the textured and patterned papers we have created from paint, oil pastels, ink and various tools. This class will give you the chance to try a variety of art techniques while having a lot of fun.

Our children’s classes are subsidised thanks to generous support from The Trusts Charitable Foundation.
