Jane Molesworth

Jane has been working as an artist for the last 8 years after completing a Bachelor of Design at Unitec in Auckland, specialising in 3-dimensional artworks from a range of materials. She says of her current work:

“After working with polyester casting resin for several years I am currently creating wall-hung artworks which have a 3-dimensional element to them. I build up layers with a variety of mixed media, which may include cement, gesso, artificial plants, varnish, acrylics and oils.

To date my work has been about creating beauty in a desolate environment, drawing inspiration from the polarities of nature. Wind, light, sun, rain, shadows, movement, are all very beautiful to me; yet at their extreme these elements are also part of the global catastrophes happening at an ever increasing rate around us such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, flooding, and tsunamis. I draw on the beauty and power from both extremes of nature”.

When not working on her own art, Jane works at Corban Estate Arts Centre as an administrator and coordinates the Gallery Shop. She is often the voice you’ll hear when you call us to enquire about our courses.

Jane will be offering a workshop in resin casting for beginners on:
30th - 31st May 09. See page 13 for specific details.
