VICTORIA SCOTT Hi, my name is Victoria Scott and I am going to be a new tutor at Corban’s this term taking 3 classes. I am a qualified primary teacher, with a love of the arts! After leaving school with a bursary in both Printing and Painting, I went on to Teachers College and University to study education.
After teaching for nearly 3 years in West Auckland I left for London. There, I taught in schools for a further 2 years and decided I needed to change things a bit! I worked for a year at Zandra Rhodes’s Fashion and Textile Museum in the education department, which sparked my creative ideas and led me into my final position, which I held for 5 years as Head of Art and Design at a private primary school, teaching 4 – 11 year olds in art. I absolutely loved my job as Head of Art and Design and can honestly say that I would get up every morning excited about what the children may start or finish, what ideas they may have and where they would take each lesson. It was a refreshing and encouraging experience that reaffirmed that working with art is for me.
Coming back to New Zealand has further inspired me to get motivated and start creating. I’m excited to see the way that Corban’s is evolving as an arts centre and wanted to get involved in this thriving place. In my spare time I paint, and lino print. I also love sculpture and photography but find that I ultimately enjoy turning my hand at anything creative so I am very excited about getting involved and offering some workshops that I hope will stir up some creativity in little minds.
