MONOCHROME: AFFORDABLE ART SHOW
Artists are invited to submit artworks for the annual affordable art exhibition at Corban Estate Arts Centre that work within the colour palette parameters of the monochrome – that is, artworks which feature either one colour or shades of one colour.
Sculptors, painters, potters, jewellers – any creative practitioner – is invited to produce an affordable artwork in monochrome. This will be a cash ‘n carry exhibition and is aimed at being affordable to our visitors over the Christmas period, so please keep this as a consideration. It is hoped that artworks will explore the potential of colour in this exercise and potentially investigate the significant heritage this technique has in art history.
All mediums will be considered for inclusion but it is recommended that works on paper or photographs are framed.
Artists are asked to submit their concepts to the curator in advance (or images of existing works) by September 21st.
Submissions should include:
• A description and explanation of the work
• Images of existing works, otherwise concept drawings of your idea
• Images of previous work to give the curator an indication of your artistic practice
• Your curriculum vitae
• An artist statement
• An approximate price for the work (please include the 25% commission imposed for affordable art exhibitions)
All artworks must be completed by November 9th 2012 in order to be included in the exhibition which opens November 22th 2012. The exhibition will be on display in one of the Corban Homestead Galleries until January 8 2013.
